Coop

Look for good ventilation without draughts, easy cleaning, perches and a nest box for every three or four hens.

Secure run

A covered, predator-resistant run keeps birds safe from foxes and lets them out of the coop in bad weather.

Feeder and drinker

Covered feeders reduce waste and help keep wild birds and rats away. Keep drinkers clean and topped up daily.

Bedding and cleaning

Dust-extracted shavings, hemp or straw for the coop, plus a scraper and a poultry-safe disinfectant.
