Short answer: eBay UK doesn’t allow hatching eggs. Its live animals policy says: “Live animals – including pets, vertebrate and invertebrate feeder animals, and hatching eggs – aren’t allowed on eBay.” (checked 10 October 2026)
What changed on eBay
The Country Smallholder reported in May 2025 that eBay was taking down hatching-egg adverts because it classes them as live animals, and that an eBay agent said the policy changed on 20 March 2025. eBay’s policy page says listings that break the policy may be removed, and accounts may be warned, restricted or suspended.

- Shows and local poultry clubs. Shows run under Poultry Club rules are listed among its affiliated societies.

Tips for selling hatching eggs
- Say the breed, variety and number of eggs, and whether the parent birds are pure or a cross.
- Be clear that hatch rates can’t be guaranteed, especially for posted eggs.
- Pack eggs pointed end down in proper egg boxes and padding, and agree postage or collection with the buyer.
- Selling birds as well? On The Eggschange, live birds are collection only, with no courier.
